Kale chips are both healthy and delicious. It's easy to make and will make both your taste buds and body happy with it's delicious flavor, vitamins, fiber and antioxidants.
Turn on the oven to 150° Celsius (300° Fahrenheit)
Wash the cabbage and let it dry completely. If the cabbage is a little bit moist, the chips can become soft.
Tear off the leaves from the stem in chips-small pieces.
Spread the leaves on a plate with baking paper. The cabbage leaves should not be on top of each other.
Drizzle the olive oil over the kale and massage the leaves with your hands. Make sure that the oil covers the entire surface of the leaves.
When the kale leaves are well covered with olive oil, sprinkle a pinch (or two) of sea salt.
Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes.
Take out the oven tray, turn over all the pieces that are starting to look crispy, put the tray back in the oven and bake for another 10-15 minutes. NOTE: To ensure that the kale chips do not burn, it's important to keep track often after about 5 minutes.
Take out the oven tray and let the kale chips cool at least for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
To make the kale chips crispy and delicious, it's important to follow the step where you massage the olive oil into the leaves properly. You need to cover every little bit of the leaves with olive oil.You might think that 2 tablespoons of olive oil might not be enough. But do not use too much olive oil as there's a risk that the kale chips gets too much moisture, which makes it hard to get crispy chips. If you feel that more olive oil is needed, I can recommend adding drop by drop so you don't use too much.Tips of seasoning:
Kale chips with sea salt is a classic, but it can be fun to vary with other spices or flavors. Below you have some tips on popular seasonings for kale chips:Grated Parmesan (put on the chips after they have been in the oven) Garlic powder (sprinkle a pinch or two over the chips before roasting in the oven) Lemon or lime peel (mix in the olive oil before massaging into the leaves) Chili (sprinkle after the chips have been in the oven) Dried herbs (can be sprinkled on the chips before or after roasting in the oven)
