Pyttipanna is not only a delicious dish but is also quite easy to make. It only takes about 30 minutes to cook this dish.
It's a classic in the Swedish cuisine that's just as popular among kids as adults. It can also be made vegetarian replacing the meat with vegetables, halloumi or meatless meat.
250grams9 oz sausage of any kind (or mix sausage and beef)
2tbspbutter
2tbspcooking oil
Salt and pepper to taste
2tbspchopped parsley

Instructions
Heat the oven to 200°C (390°F)
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes (about 1x1 cm / 0,3 in)
Put the potato cubes in a colander and rinse with water. Let it drain.
Take out a frying pan and fry the potatoes a few minutes in butter and oil. Make sure to flip the potatoes and fry them evenly.
Put the potatoes in an oven dish and place in the oven
Peel and chop the onion. Fry a few minutes in butter and oil.
Take the oven dish out of the oven and add the fried onions to the potatoes. Put the pan back into the oven.
Cut the meat into cubes (approx. 1x1 cm / 0,3 in)
Fry the meat in the frying pan in butter and oil and add to the onions and potatoes in the oven.
Let it cook about 10 minutes until the potatoes are soft and cooked.
In the meantime, you can chop parsley and fry eggs if you want it as a topping.
Take the oven dish and taste with salt and pepper.
Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with fried eggs and pickled beets.
Notes
Pyttipanna without potatoes If you want to make pyttipanna without potatoes, you can replace the potatoes with root vegetables such as turnips, carrots, parsnips and celeriac, etc.Vegetarian Pyttipanna If you're a vegetarian, you can replace the meat with halloumi. Halloumi is delicious and gives some saltiness to the dish.
